I have only watched the trailer of Peter Greenaway's film, A Zed and two noughts which looks at death and decay in quite an explicit way.
The use of time lapse depicts the theme of decay very accurately, and is interjected into the film sequencing at various points. The lighting used in the shots illuminates the objects in focus at various points and then fades them out to black. He sometimes flashes the light intermittently. These effect add contrast and impact to the viewer.
